Now that the kids are home, just about everyone I know is having to homeschool. While you are spending your days teaching reading and that new crazy new math that none of us understand, don’t forget about a very important aspect of your school schedule: P.E.! With the weather being absolutely delightful here, there’s been no better time to break out the sprinkler and let them burn some energy out. Here’s great opportunity for your next assignment! The following was edited using the free Google Snapseed App for phones. Check out our first assignment for details on where to get and how to use this image editor.

Assignment Two – Playing with Water and Texture

For the first part of this assignment, try giving your kiddo the hose with a sprayer. There’s a sense of control in some chaos that makes for some great moments.

Next, let’s go for the absolute pandemonium of the sprinkler. We actually didn’t have one, so when we first became homebound I purchased one on Amazon that spun 360 degrees to really get some coverage for her to run through. Break out your camera phone and let’s start shooting!

Go for the low and high angles: Get on the ground or stand on a chair. If your phone has the ability, choose wide angles and really try to capture the scene. You may want to wear a swimsuit because you are definitely going to get wet.

Get on something high and shoot down.
Lay on the ground and try an upward angle.

Don’t be afraid to back up: Get further back and try to capture action shots that capture the total scene. (And getting Mom or Dad in some epic jumping shots will impress the kids for weeks!)

Shoot from the hip: Throw everything you’ve heard about conventional cropping out the window. Take some shots away from your eye, at chest level or lower for a totally new perspective. Don’t worry about cutting off a head now and again! It can create some very interesting art of your favorite people!

Capture the moment, not poses here.

Get close: Get in there and fill the frame with your subject. You might just get one of your favorite new photos of your people, like I did!

There is no wrong way to do this! Have fun, shoot what makes you happy, and enjoy this extra time with family. Don’t forget to tag us #KDPStayatHome with your creations!
