I’m originally from Huntsville, AL but haven’t lived there in over 10 years. I still keep in touch with many of my close friends there. Lucky for me, a popular vacation destination for most of them in Destin, FL so in the summertime I get to see them more often! So this past weekend I had the opportunity to go and see my friend Jessica and her family and I jumped on it!
I haven’t even started going through all the photos but I saw this one and I thought it fit this week’s I Heart Faces challenge very well. Let’s just say we didn’t account for the sun setting quite as early as it did so our photo session was a speedy one! We found ourselves racing the daylight to capture as much as we could in the little time available. The lighting became extremely challenging, which is kind of why I’m in love with this session. We were packing it in when her oldest daughter decided not to follow us. We turned around to get her attention to come with us back inside, but she was too busy playing in a giant puddle left by the tide. With a “touch of sun” barely left in the sky, I was able to capture this moment that really made our entire session.
As soon as I saw this, I knew you were at the tail end of the light. The blurred orbs of light in the distance with the subdued shades of sunset just add to the calmness of this shot. Her total absorption in the tidal pool is such a true moment of childhood.
what a gorgeous photo!!!
