You’ve agonized over planning your outfits. You’ve carved time out of your busy schedules with work, school, and after school activities where everyone can be together on the same day. Everything is falling into place for your beautiful family photo session where you are sure to capture those heirloom photographs to show off through the years. You are READY! Too bad your son is not. Too bad he woke in the night and didn’t get enough sleep. Too bad he refused to eat his breakfast. Too bad he would rather be doing anything else than having his picture taken. He’s vocal about it. He’s defiant. He’s not ready. That’s all OK, because I am.

Some of my best sessions have come from real moments and the in-betweens of meltdowns. I have had clients leave a session saying things like, “I’m so sorry, I hope you were able to get something” and then be blown away at what was captured. I’m always shooting at my sessions. Laughing, running, flailing, kicking, yelling, crying, I’m shooting. My point is, don’t let the stress or worry of how your child is going to behave at your photo session deter you from recording this time with your family.  Let your quirks and imperfection shine. Those photos are sure to be your favorites for years to come.
