Wow, where have I been? It seems like I’m out of town nearly every weekend lately! This past weekend I was honored to have been invited to guest teach at Stacy Larsen‘s Launch 2 Workshop at her studio in Tampa Florida. I met the most amazing group of ladies in Tampa, most of whom had already met each other by attending the first Launch Workshop. Part of my job there was to assist Stacy with showing the girls our different styles of shooting, how to pose, how to find light, and how to get emotion out of our clients. I’m going to be taking a few blog posts here and there to show some of the images I took while I was at there and talk about what we were trying to achieve. This time around I’m focusing on the “beauty shot” which has become extremely popular with high school senior photography lately. I love taking this kind of picture. The shallow depth of field and juicy color you can get in something like this is to die for! Going through these pictures, I realized that I didn’t take much time to get my gorgeous model, Emily, to smile only because I was doing more talking than shooting! I can’t wait to see what the girls I was working with were able to achieve using some of the tips I demoed. Here are just a few of mine.

These literally take my breath away. You are a true talent.
Wow Kira…beautiful!!
These are gorgeous!! It is crazy how little details like the angle of her shoulder or chin make all the difference and can take a photograph from good to amazing. The tips and suggestions you shared about posing (and photoshop, and lighting:) are going to be so helpful. You and Stacy are so talented and I am so happy that I got a chance to learn from you this past weekend.
Absolutley stunning Kira -I love them- I learned so much from you this weekend – I hope to be like you when I “grow up” !!!
These are so great!! Her eyes are fantastic!!
