Winner, Portrait of a Child, Print of the Month January 2013
Last night was the first meeting of the Tallahassee Professional Photographers Guild of 2013 and I gotta say, the meeting was super fun. Good food, good speaker, good friends, and best of all I won in 4 categories in our monthly print competition! No better place to brag than my blog, right? Here goes!
The top image and the winner overall was my picture of Lucy in the snow. I posted those pictures on the blog not too long ago along with the story behind them. All I’ll say about it today is that it is hands down my favorite picture of her to date. I take so many pictures of that girl, she’s getting just a bit jaded. When she saw the 8×10 print of it that I brought home this morning she said, “Oh that’s just me. No big deal.” Squish.

Another one of Lucy, this time at the building that my studio is located in. She’s not so much frustrated here as just playing peek a boo with me, but the image itself when all was said and done visually shows how I was feeling that day. A little exasperated, maybe a little frustrated. I chose this image as ad for my upcoming Momtography 101 class and I think it works. Happily it was also a winner!

And finally, here’s my image of the beautiful Pam Bauer wearing the dress we constructed for our glamorous Black Dress Experiment. I’ve been waiting for 2 months to be able to enter it in the competition and I’m so excited that it won! I have been collecting more vintage pieces to try and construct a second dress for another shoot in the future. Details on that coming soon!
