I think I’ve been playing it safe and coloring in the lines a bit. My resolution to myself and to those who may follow this blog is to go back to breaking some rules. I want to do more personal projects, more experimenting, and I want to take more chances with my work. I hope that over the course of the year I can reflect back on some personal projects from years past, get back to my roots (film!!!), and continue to grow my personal style. This doesn’t mean I’m quitting what I’ve been doing. I just want to do more! That’s allowed right?

So let’s jump right into it, shall we? Now, if you know me, you know I’m a sucker for black and white. It’s my first love in photography. If you had asked 21 year old Kira as she was hanging freshly developed film to dry if she’d ever shoot in color, you would have first been lectured on why black and white images are superior and how digital photography would NEVER give you the quality you could get with film and would never catch on. Man, art students are so pretentious! Just kidding art students! You are all beautiful snow flakes.

Here are some images that I shot this morning with Lu. I realize I’ve been posting a lot of pictures of her sad face lately. For such a happy child, she really does have a slight Wednesday Adams vibe about her that I swoon for. Here she is telling me that her hands have gotten dirty and asking me to look.
